Coup de grâce

Exploitation of resources and pollution of  Planet Earth due to Man's greed for development and comforts has no meaning since it would be the beginning of the end of them both. The time has come when a whip HAS to be cracked and people HAVE to listen. When I say kind whip, I mean self-imposed limitations that may seem harsh to impose since it involves forfeiting certain comforts we are used to.

Drilling, scooping and damming
Her plaintive tears flow unheard
We suck her milk of goodness
Her hidden secret kindness
Till she bleeds from every pore

Father greed wields the whip
Rules the blood money whirlpools
And she lashes out in fury
Angry eyes spell out caution
Little lessons unheeded

Her acid wrath smarting
The selfish wastrels who sprue
The countless gassy venom.
Her entrails boil and spill
To spread death and disaster.

Where are we going from here?
Down a precipice we stare
A slide into nothingness.
Silly slaughter has to stop!
Its time to crack the kind whip!

Each of us can do our bit to save its resources. Use less water, not use plastic and not waste food.

A very meaningful and lovely poem Nalini. I totally agree with you that we need to have more ecological awareness in the world at the moment.. we are almost on the brink of self-destruction.
