Corporate Planning

Size Zero. A dream sold well. That's all there is to it. Beauty is a big time business that involves dissatisfied people. It only leads to complications not only in the body but also in the mind. Pro Ana Webring has a list of thinspirations that are really funny and can give you an idea of how an anorexic mind thinks. Infact I included this in my post as a chectlist of symptoms. If you find you have a few of them, then mabe you need some help! -From Lightchatter

  • Make an ANA scrapbook with pics of skinny models. Write down all the reasons you want to lose weight. Keep track of everything you eat.
  • The only freedom left is the freedom to starve.
  • Giving in to food shows weakness, be strong and you will be better than everyone else.
  • You aren't defeated when you lose, you're only defeated when you quit!
  • Do not give up on what you want most for what you want at the moment.
  • Nothing matters when I'm thin.
  • An imperfect body reflects an imperfect person.
  • Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.
  • I'm not starving myself. I'm perfecting my emptiness.
  • It's not deprivation, it's liberation.
  • Craving is only a feeling.
  • Thin is a skill.
  • What's in your fingers today is on your hips tomorrow.
  • Quod me nutrit, me destruit (What nourishes me also destroys me)
  • What the scale says is the most important thing.
  • Being thin and not eating are signs of true willpower and success.

Plot is planned, a clever trap laid
Money spills as spin machines trade

Effulgent in smart labeled suits
Pert fleet footed those high fliers

Billboard images that entice
With painted dreams of fancy lies

Deceived by the glitterati
Sizezero-sixpack guarantee

Mind, the body image controls
Beauty begets fame and laurels

Not all are blessed traffic stoppers
Most numskull dream-body hopers

In a bank vault his laughter rings
Beauty hunter an old song sings

The fat man’s mind bestirred berserk
Pills and drills and suctions at work

A cruel diet gives way soon
To depression binging of doom

Constant companions for days
Self loathing and neurosis stays

The girl in the photo looks really slim and really UNHEALTHY! The lines below her eyes say it all.

Isn't food industry bigger than fashion? How come the new generation falls from one corp planning to other?

Lakshmi Rajan said...

Holy cow! I can only pity the girl in the pic.

This whole idea of Size Zero is ridiculous. And horribly, many of the youngsters are falling trap to the stupid style statement while it is just a idiotic statement in reality which can be fatal too.

eating disorders are the worst...all in the hope of a size 0.

Kareena did it and so numerous girls who are crazy about her are gonna give it a shot.

It is all about not being happy with the way you look. People have become so superficial. Lovely poem :)

If you call that beauty.. I prefer being fat and ugly. I feel sorry for those brainwashed models.. eeewwww

Add to this obsession the fact that photographs are air brushed to further con our youngsters. We seem to forget why primates preen. The lady in the photograph will not be very comfortable to hold in close proximity.

I can count the ribs of the girl in picture... sadly thats is the picture most of the girls will adore...
another brilliant write expressed so well ...

OMG... just can't understand as to why people go for modeling if that's the case.. its not beauty.. looks like some one from Somaliya in the pic..

After looking at the pic of that model, i am loving my curves and bulges even more. External looks matter (though not much to me) but i wouldnt go to that extant where one is reduced to a mere heap of bones.

OMG, She really looks SICK!!! From below the poverty line...Whats happening to all these beautiful girls...to Want to Look So!!!

Well, one of my x-manager had given a great suggestion in one of our meeting. i am taking the privilege of narrating the story since the headline has 'corporate' in it ;)

He is a health and fitness freak and he said 'eat what you want but know how much to eat. too much of anything is not only bad, but an abuse on your body'. Every word makes sense. Never be deprived of pizza! but not the whole pan for self... may be a piece or two will do :)

I think that the wafer thin models are on the way out in the West because of all the controversy. I am beginning to see more "regular" and plus size models.

PS: Nalini .. I think what Lakshmi meant was that if we want to comment on your site then we have to provide our Google account ID. It would be easier if we can do it using an URL and a name.

sambarman said...

She looks pathetic! If this is how the models should look, why not scout in Somalia? No need to measure... models are ready made thin

Nice thoughts and well written.

ohhhhhhh that poor girl...seems to be malnourished

it is size zero, but zero is not about size of clothes, it is size of your insecurities, it is only when you can fit into the unfittables that your confidence will have much needed boost ... size zero is the measure of your confidence ....

I am curious about two things:

1: How old is she? 90?

2: is she alive yet?

Azra Raphael said...

freaky how anorexics really think. like, really scary!

and the model's picture. better off not even commenting on it. unfortunately our entertainment culture promotes thinness actively. what with more celebs opting for size zero [though in a healthy way], but the rest of the world goes for shortcuts which are unhealthy as well, and dangerously so

ps- awesome music in here!

Perception of beauty changes in each civilizations and we are epitomizing size zero as perfect beauty. In brazil natural beauty is still considered far more better than artificial one
