Stop to Live a Little

There is so much life has to offer but do we have the time to stop and live a little? Little things that can give us great joy...simple things like blowing bubbles to watch your child play with them. Nature and closeness to her is healing like nothing else. Do we have the time? Stop to live a little! Click

Time flees on motored wheels
And I flirt on trivia surfeit
Wheels fitted firm underfoot
Breezily whizzing through time
Out of breath, out of my depth
No time to stop to live a little.

Will there be time another time
To behold clouds fold unfold
And offer the blue or darken up
To lay awake under open skies
And catch a wishfilled falling star
Will there be time another time?

Will there be time another time
To watch weaver ants sew the leaf
Or the tailor bird start from scratch
To sit with feet in a shallow stream
And let fingerlings nip my toes
Will there be time another time?

Will there be time another time
To hide behind a sheer rain curtain
And eavesdrop on songs of frogs
To coax the koel to coo and tut
And chortle in joy as others join
Will there be time another time?

The Pandora box spilt wide open
Lament the regret that falls out alien
Life not meant to be lived swindled
Break out, cut loose, fettered soul!
Nature beckons you sweet and true
Into her welcome arms amorous run.

The Slippery World of Fate

Life is quite like walking on a slippery floor. You try to hold on to something to stop you ending up face down on the floor. You grab opportunities you find along the way and take them quite quickly, before they disappear from your sight. You stop the falling but have you made a good choice? You will find out only when you reach the end. Would we like what we see, what we chose, how we lived?

Every single moment
of those waking moments,
And moments spent in dreamland,
Dreaming for better or for worse,
Bombarded are we every moment
with choices a zillion,
Zipping past nonchalant
As if they make not a difference.

Every single choice
whines an urgent note,
Demanding speedy decisions,
in splits of a second.
Miss and none remain
for snappy decision to be made,
Rather like an eel slippery
just slips into the past.

Of zillion choices offered,
only a few hundred stick,
Decided in split seconds
while the choice still hot,
Years have to go by
To hear the verdict of fate,
You did good! Or
You ruined your life!

Those made you ‘you’ today,
'You' moulded by those choices
and those instant decisions.
Bombarded by reflective moments
of satisfaction, bliss
of regret, remorse.

On and on we travel
on a journey called life,
Slipping and failing,
choosing and rejoicing.
Like a finger on a button
that chooses an answer,
We chart our future path,
hitting a few buttons right
of a zillion choices floating
out there for the taking.

Today Unplugged

Happiness and the search for it can leave you baffled. It is not a commodity that can be bought, nor is it something permanent. It is but a state of mind so flimsy and ephemeral that it needs to be handled with care. 'Today'...that's were happiness dwells...and it takes very little to live in 'today' without a thought of tomorrow or yesterday. Do everything you do 'today' as if there is no tomorrow!

An issue often to mind revisits
So nebulous and uncertain.
Always stirring deepest beliefs
Leaving me baffled in its wake.

Happiness comes from liberation,
Unattached to any form of possession,
Power, status, name and money,
Person, praise, comfort and property?

It seems an easy thing to apply,
Since I already all things enjoy,
And in my custody they will stay,
Going no place in a flurry.

Is it not human nature to protect,
All in the world that I possess?
Will I know liberation only if I lost
All in the world that I possess?

So stirred up was I, so stirred up,
Till like bulb it suddenly lit up,
Do all you have to do on this planet
But exist only for this very instant!

Like there is no tomorrow coming
Today! Take care of all your possessions.
Live every wakeful moment loving
Today! Enjoy the fruits of your labours.

When into future you do not look
Today! A pleasant time to be in.
This simple truth has me so shook
Today! A time to smile and be happy in.

Unattached to possession
Today! Liberated from attachment.
Not worrying for a better tomorrow
Today! Living in blissful contentment.

Love, give, catch a tear or two
Smile and the world smiles for you.

Life Goes On…

Life is full of disappointments and numerous moments of feeling that you want to just sleep and forget the goings-on, but suddenly the cloud cover is lifted and the sun shines warmly on our lives. I think it pays to understand that the sun cannot shine for you for ever. Unless the rain clouds bring the rain and the snow, earth cannot prepare itself for a hot summer.

Step by step
On the white chalk line
Walk on, sojourner!
Life moves on
And waits for none,
No time to linger
With regrets in the heart,
No time to ponder
On words said harsh.

Along the way
A hand is held
With promise pledged
Sealed and taken,
No time to linger
With regrets in the heart,
No time to ponder
On words said harsh.

Close bonds may grate
And repair a must,
All things need fixing
For friction wears,
No time to linger
With regrets in the heart,
No time to ponder
On words said harsh.

The seeds well sown
Have borne the fruit,
Sit back, unwind!
Kind wind, fill the sail
On smooth satin waters
To the horizon sail!

No time to linger
On life lived well
No time to ponder
On life after death!
