Teacher's Reward - Haiku 120

I taught English and Social Sciences for two years to 14 and 15 year olds...a very fulfilling period because I saw rewards in the faces that looked up at me; every day.

my reward-
tender minds tickled
eager eyes giggle

Stream - Haiku 108

I can imagine the breath-holding anticipation of boat makers of yore...comparable to children floating paper boats!

watch paper boat
test new waters

Soul Unborn

Mother, can you hear me?  MOTHER!
I love the echoing sound of your voice
The comforting beating of your heart
And the tight embrace of my watery home.
What is that song that you hum all day?
Please sing it to me, the lullaby I love!

Dear child, stay forgettingly still
Don’t talk to me in that endearing tone.
I ‘d love to sing to you but fear
Our love will swell with our time together.
I want you to listen to my words carefully
I want you to understand my decision my pain.
I have no money and no time to spare
Can’t look after you since my stomach too hungry.
But I promise to absorb that little soul inside you
And treasure it as a part of me forever and ever.
You will reside inside me, in my heart deep hurting
I will never forget you, my little unfortunate child.

Mother, can you hear me?  MOTHER!
Please let me live, oh please Mother!
I promise never to bother you for love and money
I promise to go hungry when there is less to eat
Please mother please let me live outside with you!

This world is not a nice place, my sweetest dear!
Not good enough for a sweet one like you
Its dirty and crowded, full of lie and deceit
Not a place I would want you to live and grow in.
So forgive me, my sweet dear, if you ever can
I take this decision for you and for me.
Let peace be with you in your soul within me.
I promise to keep you in there till time is right
And when I feel I can provide enough for you
You will be born I promise as my dearest child
Treasured and cherished for as long as I live
I will wait impatiently for that day to come.

Blues - Haiku 119

Blue Mountains-
hot cup of strong black tea
to chase away the blues

Note: blue-violet 'Kurinji' flowers bloom to cover the Blue Mountains like a carpet once every 12 years…tea gardens now cover these slopes

Open Mind

“For myself, I found that I was fitted for nothing so well as for the study of Truth; as having a mind nimble and versatile enough to catch the resemblances of things … and at the same time steady enough to fix and distinguish their subtler differences; as being gifted by nature with desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and as being a man that neither affects what is new nor admires what is old, and that hates every kind of imposture” Francis Bacon, 1605.

Of fallacy and naivety
Accused stands human minds,
Sifter of alien anti ideas,
Blocking views closing ears,
Living in cosseted safety.

Throw open windows,
Sweep aside cobwebs
From masked cataract eyes,
Unplug clogged ears
Filled with half notions.

Egos and social-alcoves oppose
Critical thinking beyond ‘selves’,
Churned cream of fairness,
Merits that scream of logics,
Still minds inactively decompose.

Like sheep most follow
Speaking a common lingo
Unquestioned thought furrow,
Few attempt to blow
Logic into mumbo-jumbo.

Work around the mind-mechanism,
Fine-tune and correct the process,
Analyzing contrasts to bareness,
Open the mind to freely transgress,
Into deep zones worth a fathom.
