Friendship

A write up about friendship came by email some years ago. I loved it so much that I decided to convert it into a poem.

People enter our lives
and move out of it
quite like a zipping train
into a station waiting.
After a halt brief to just leave
or to dock overnight
for a downright clean.
Friends are in our lives
for a reason or a season
it’s for us to recognize why.
Not hold on to cry depressed
but cherish the moments
of closeness felt.

Reasons are many for people
to stopby in our lives
a mutual need
a support, guidance.
Two hands extended
for that reason felt
But like a flower just bloomed
and now withered dry
we soon move out
of each other’s lives.
But remains with us the
fragrance and picture
of a flower in fullbloom
close to the heart.

Some stay on
a little while longer
to enrich that smile
for a sweet season.
Peace and laughter
love and joy
together in bliss
doing something new.
For the first time in life
something shared and new.
It’s real and complete
with love and success
but for one season lasts.
As both move on wiser
from a job wrapped up
folded and shelved.

Some do stay on
for a lifetime though.
To teach us lessons
to build foundations
so like bedrock strong.
An emotional anchor
in the surging life
to hold us down
in reality anchored.
Teaching us solidity
love and tolerance.
Something to use
in all interactions
at home also at work.
Helps us ever more
to love the soul
that within this body
lonesome resides.

I gotta say this... you mentioned every aspect of it... first i thought it was about the fact that distances are created eventually, but u clung on to the idea of being there throughout the lifetime too... it was just too touchy to read.. i have friends too, and i never miss out anything with them. this poem is just so COMPLETE in ever sense!!!! kudos!

Friendship is like a Zipping Train - Very nice comparison :)
